"If we defend our habits, we have no intentions of quitting them."

So far, since I started my process 2 weeks ago,
I have lost 6 pounds!

10/10 - 215
10/22 - 209

I have been diligent in my effort to lose weight.  I have been proactive toward my goal.....

1.  I downloaded an app MyFitnessPal (which I already had, but didn't use) which counts my calories, both coming in and out...

2.  I have been diligent on watching my caloric intake, being sure to eat WHEN I Need to eat, not just mindless snacking.  My snacking has been shifted from crackers/chips to apples & grapes.

3.  My obsession with Sweet Tea has been changed to Water.  I drink Sweet Tea only at one meal, but not on a daily basis.

4.  I have decided to take up Kickboxing as a hobby!  I am super excited because I have been trying to find a hobby but not sure what I wanted to do.  So, I have a plan, now I must execute it....  I am waiting some wiggle room in the schedule, and I will get started...

HOWEVER....
I have not been so diligent about my exercising...

I am still working on that...  Not yet a consistency established.   I will do great one week, nothing another week, a little something another week, etc.  I really get caught up in other things, work or family related, and I use that as an excuse of WHY I CANT exercise; or I am being plan lazy, but calling it "a long day that I am so tired and need to rest".  I have a treadmill in my garage, BUT I don't like to stare at the Laker Gold wall...  I enjoy going walking/jogging, BUT run out of time before the sun goes down, and I have the Wii games, BUT don't always feel like doing them.  So, what I have is a list of BUTs.  My desire to get my body moving is there, but my motivation is not... This is NOT helpful for me or my weightloss goal.  (Which is why I chose my quote. )

"If we defend our habits, we have no intentions of quitting them."

So, my goal is to continue what I am doing as far as eating, but increase my consistency with exercise.

I will commit to a minimum of 20 minutes 4 days a week.
(I know that that is not quite enough to lose a ton of weight, but typically, once I start exercising, I will put in a complete effort and complete my workout session... So this is really nothing more than a conscious effort to get the ball rolling.)

So,  my quote to get me started is...

"If we defend our habits, we have no intentions of quitting them."

"What do I want out of life, and what am I willing to do to get it?"

It comes down to a simple question:
"What do you want out of life, and what are you willing to do to get it?"

So, it's time for me to reveal it all.  I have decided to start this blog to journal my journey to a healthier lifestyle.  At 34 years of age, I am Overweight!  I can sit here and complain about how I have always been on the chunky side, and that this is my natural size, and I can sit here and make 1000 excuses on why it's difficult for me to commit to a healthier lifestyle since I have been doing that forever; but today, I am deciding NO MORE EXCUSES!

I found the above quote online and I thought how simple, yet deep, this quote is.  I know what I want out of life.  And I am ready to take the steps to get it.  My blog will focus on my weight and healthy lifestyle.

I am vowing to allow my blog to make me accountable to myself to help me to attain my goal.

My goal is to adopt a consistent exercise schedule and make better eating choices with the ultimate goal of significant weightloss.  This will help me reach my ultimate goal of aging gracefully without any ailments.  My great-grandparents are both over 95 years of age, and are blessed with full cognition, mobility, and independence.  They are still married and still flirt with each other, and still live alone in their home.  They are a great inspiration for me.  I pray that I will be Blessed like them.

So with that, I say to myself again....

It comes down to a simple question: "What do I want out of life, and what am I willing to do to get it?"
